The Graduate School and the Graduate Alumni Advisory Board at Eastern Illinois University honored Dr. Kathy Pendleton,‘79,‘80 with a 2014 Outstanding Graduate Alumni Award this past April. The awards were established in 2005 to recognize exceptional professional and personal achievement by an EIU alumnus of a graduate program. Alumni are nominated by graduate programs and the selections are reviewed and chosen by the Graduate Alumni Advisory Board. Pendleton was nominated by the graduate program in Family and Consumer Sciences.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics in 1979 and a master’s degree in home economics in 1980, both from EIU. She earned a doctorate in education and counseling psychology/college student personnel at the University of Louisville in 2007. Alumni were invited back to campus for a series of events that included breakfast with the provost of the university, a reunion and luncheon with their home departments, and an evening dinner and awards ceremony in the Doudna Fine Arts Center on EIU’s campus in Charleston, Illinois. Along with Pendleton, twelve other alumni were honored at this year’s event.  Pendleton currently serves as the Director of the Student Counseling Center at the University of Louisville. She and her husband, Reverend Mac Pendleton, reside in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
