The Student Affairs profession places value on the interaction and professional development opportunities afforded through the national organizations of American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA). With both ACPA and NASPA occurring in March, our Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Tom Jackson hosted institutional receptions at both conferences. At ACPA in Las Vegas, UofL Student Affairs co-hosted the reception with UK and CPAK. At NASPA in Orlando, UofL Student Affairs co-hosted the reception with UK.
Both receptions at ACPA and NASPA allowed alumni, current and former staff, and friends of the university to mingle with alumni and network with fellow higher education professionals from the University of Louisville that are working both here at UofL and at institutions across the nation and the globe. The receptions featured some well known UofL Higher Education professionals and faculty including: Dr. Edward Hammond who is a former UofL Vice President of Student Affairs and current President at Fort Hayes State University; Dr. Bridgette Pregliasco, current UofL faculty member in the Higher Education Program in CEHD and former UofL Assistant Vice President of Student Life; and Dr. Michael Cuyjet, current UofL faculty member and Acting Department Chair of the College Student Personnel Program in CEHD

Spring Break Service Trips
Many UofL students are giving up their traditional spring break trips this year to participate in a week of volunteer service. The Division of Student Affairs is sponsoring alternative spring break trips to New Orleans, Belize, and Trinidad and Tobago this semester. Students will get to experience a new culture and impact the local community where they are volunteering. All groups are maintaining blogs during their trips - check them out to see what they have been doing this week.
